I tried to pull an article from the first reference list of
the first article I read, but I encountered several problems. First, the article was unavailable with the
library resources I have or second, the article was a unpublished and
inaccessabile for me. Finally, I found
an article through the reference sheet of another source. The article:
“Perspectives on...Information Literacy adn Reflective Pedagogical
Praxis” by Heidi L.M. Jacobs was extremely unhelpful. The article was focused on librarians and
teaching from the persective of a librarian.
The author defined information literacy and then emphasized the
importance of looking at pedagogical praxis as opposed to just theory. Although the information was interesting, it
wasn’t helpful for me. I am trying to
gather ideas and discover new ways to engage with students. The article mentions dialogue, discussion,
reflection, etc. which is great—I am aiming for these things—but the article
fails to provide examples of these. The
article feels largely like a plea to Librarians to engage with information
literacy pedagogy as a praxis.
